I decided to take leave from Aug 3-10 in conjunction with Daniel's arrival so that it could be like a long holiday for me too. It's only 3 days vacation leave taken and the rest are my regular off days. So, there should be plenty (relatively) of remaining leave left to take to go back to Malaysia. :)
Daniel arrived from his long flight at about 11.30pm at my place. He wasn't feeling too good because at the last few hours he suffered from motion sickness. He didn't take the motion sickness pills because throughout most of the flight he felt he didn't need it. Thinking about the grueling hours of flight makes me feel sick too...
Anyway, the next day was spent mostly walking around to the mall. We visited Target to get a rough idea of what he should get for his room. We ate at the Glendale Galeria foodcourt at this Hawaiian BBQ place. Next, we bought two dvds to take advantage of the discounted coupons for the movie Bruno that Daniel wanted to see.
The second day was spent resting in the house surfing the net with our laptops (Daniel was using his netbook). I cooked lunch, which consisted of mushy brown rice (too much water), black sauce scrambled eggs with garlic, bak choi with prawns dish and seasoned (too salty as it turned out) fried fish. Later, we walked to the Pacific theatres for our movie. Had a little bite at Jodi Maroni's sausage stand.
Bruno was...what's the word...hmm, not sure if I can find a word for it actually. I'm just speechless. Suffice to say that, I think watching it once is enough for me. It is funny that nobody realizes who this actor really was and that the responses that people are giving in this movie is actually for real. Even the terrorrist! The most bizarre scene has got to be the one where Bruno was 'kissing' his 'ghost' friend in front of the psychic. I've never seen a goodbye kiss done quite the way he did in that show...;D
Tomorrow we're going to try to head down to China Town. ;D I think I have it down all in the map of Metro's bus and train services...if not, as back-up, I asked Daniel to bring along his netbook to search for info wherever there's free wifi.

Hehehe... well I thought Bruno was funny. Like Borat, I guess, but maybe better I think. But, like Borat, it's an acquired taste and it may not be for everyone. ;D I'd recommend it to people who can take this kind of strange humor though. ;D
And I think our Chinatown trip was quite fruitful. ;D Finally you have gone to Chinatown and seen that you can get some of the stuff that you like. ;) And it's not that far away or hard to get there from where you live, too. ;)
